This section explains a little about the services I offer and how I do them. My goal is to ensure you have a full understanding of all the parts
I used, settings I made, and repairs if needed.
I do a lot of extra services that may or may not cost you extra. Sometimes I will change out parts for better parts and all this will be disclosed to you in the paperwork you receive with your finished carburetor set. I do not ever want you to wonder if any particular part was replaced or not.
When we first talk about your carbs I will give you a price range for the rebuild that is usually between 50-100 dollars price difference depending on the carburetor.
Once I receive the carburetors I will typically tear them down and do a complete assessment within 3 days. If the assessed price is in the range I gave you I will start work when your turn in the current queue comes up. If the price exceeds the highest dollar amount of your estimated price range, we will discuss it before work is done. If at that time you feel the price is more than you would like to pay or damage exceeds the value of the carbs, you pay NOTHING except return shipping. You will NEVER pay more without a discussion and a OK from you so NO surprises when the work is done.
I do not request payment until the work is completed. In very rare cases there may be an expensive part the carbs need and we have not done past business and I will ask you to cover that cost. In all the years of rebuilding carbs this has only happened a handful of times and you will know after the assessment, not during the actual rebuild. I never want my customers worried of being pushed into spending any more than was agreed upon. I don't like excuses from other people and I think you should expect the same from me. So, it is my responsibility to know where we stand after the initial assessment and not during the rebuild process itself.
I always take before pictures of every carb set I rebuild from all angles and they are available upon request when the job is done. You will always receive paperwork with the completed carbs that will include all of your factory settings along with notes of any performance changes you may have requested. You will also receive a complete set of parts layout pictures like the ones found on this site in the pictures of past rebuilds, pictures of the assembled float and jet area, the insides of the float bowls themselves, and any other pictures that show other areas of the insides I thought you should see. I don't want you to wonder how the insides turned out.
Sometimes I will receive carbs with some new parts that were installed recently. When this happens I will asses those parts and if they are of a quality that I feel is going to compliment my standards, I will save you money by using them again. You will always receive everything I pulled from your carbs back, new or used. The only parts you may not receive are typically the occasional steel bracket that I changed out for a nicer version, like in the case where your brackets were stripped of coatings that protect them from rusting. This keeps you from paying full price for a bracket or paying anything extra depending on the rareness of the bracket. It will also be reflected on your invoice and be marked "traded-out".
Upon receiving your carbs, this the order of process done to assess the work to be done.
1 - I will identify the carbs to ensure they are the correct set for your make model and year.
2 - Pictures will be taken of all angles to show the way they were received and current condition. This includes any damage or oddities I find during disassembly.
3 - Complete disassembly of the carbs and full inspection of all parts. I do not disassemble throttle butterflies on all carbs. This will be assessed and they will also be disassembled if necessary. The older the carb, the more likely this will be necessary and I consider this part of the process on some models. If this is a big concern I will be happy to discuss it with you upon request.
4 - All parts are scrutinized for quality and correctness. Especially jet needles, needle jets, emulsion tubes, slide parts, cut-aways, floats. In other words, no stone is left unturned. I know what your carb is suppose to have in it and what factory parts are compared to non factory or improper interchanges. These are things that make the difference between and kind of good running carb and a crisp properly running carb.
5 - Once this is all done if the price is in the range I gave you I will start work when it is your turn in queue.
Concerning your turn in queue, I never try to take on too many carbs in any given time. I try to get your carbs back to you in less than a 2 week time frame (Not counting shipping time). If when we first talk the time is going to be longer than two weeks or accessing parts may take longer you will know asap and typically before you ship them. I pride myself on being quick and efficient and hold myself to this standard. This never means your carbs will be rushed or corners cut. I can do this because I never take on more work than I can handle. Most times parts access can be the only issue. I try to keep popular parts on hand, but sometimes I do have to wait on parts. Again though I will let you know ASAP if this is a concern and not some excuse if the carbs are late.
All carbs are leak tested and bench synked before shipment.
I source all parts needed and will never ask you to source any parts needed for your rebuild. I only use parts I trust and are excellent quality. I rarely use any carb kit "as is" and most of the time I make my own kits. I have yet to run into any kits that have everything any particular rebuild needs, or has 100% correct parts supplied. I do ask that if you or another person attempted a rebuild and it failed, to send all of the parts you have on hand from that rebuild as it will almost always save you money in the long run.
All the work I do is guaranteed. I go through many measures to make sure there are no issues before the work is finished. Every part is inspected no less that 3 times during the initial inspection, the cleaning, and the rebuilding processes. Good enough is not ok with me and it should not be ok for you. You send your carbs to me to eliminate all chances the carbs are any issue with your project and I take this seriously. I am also always happy to help with any technical advise or with any questions you may have during installation.
If you have any questions or concerns I am ALWAYS happy to talk. Please contact me VIA my contacts page.
