'76-'79 KZ750B Twins with Mikuni BS36 Carbs

This is the KZ750 twin Mikuni 38mm carbs that were used on all '76-'80 models.  All the years listed will interchange physically so it is common to see the wrong set installed. Although I always recommend installing the proper set, as long as you match the parts to the ID on the set you are typically fine.

Below is a set of '79 KZ750B4 Mikuni 38mm carbs.  This is the most common version. These carbs can seem simple, but they have a few pitfalls you can run into that will make them run severly bad, or not at all. These bikes were made in Japan and imported into the US and they were also MADE in the US. The US models have a different jet needle, slide and associated parts along with a few other changes. They can NOT be inter-mixed and most kits come with the Japanese import needle and not the US made needle. These carbs will make you hate yourself if you do not properly identify, and even that can be an issue as the ID number is acid etched into the side of the bell housing and sometimes impossible to see. You have to play detective sometimes to properly rebuild these carbs.
