KZ650 Models '79-'81 with Mechanical Slide and Accelerator Pump Mikuni VM22 and VM24
This is the KZ650 first gen VM mechanical slide carbs equipped with accelerator pump on number two carb bowl. All the years listed will interchange physically so it is very common to have any set on any year from past servicing. They can be interchanged on any of the years listed here, but they use different internal tuning. These look like the earlier KZ650 VM24's, but they have many differences due to the accelerator system parts. Each float bowl has a check valve that matches with a sprayer on each carb. There is a different float bowl on the #2 carb where the diaphragms for the pump system are mounted. Some sets will use two different diaphragms and others use only the square one. Don't worry if your KZ650 has one of the no pump sets as the accelerator pumps are pretty useless on the KZ650. Larger models like the KZ1000 made better use of the pump as they went from VM26 to VM28 where the pump made since. The KZ650 never got larger than a VM24 up to '81.
Pictured below is a '80 KZ650F 1208 set in pre assembly, so you can see some of the many differences. All models and years listed here will physically interchange, but the different ID numbers do not have the same internal tuning.
