'94-'97 ZX900B ZX9R Ninja Keihin Down-draft CVK40 Carbs
This is the second gen of the of the 900 Ninja series and the first to be called a ZX9R. This bike was loosely based off the '93-'95 ZX-7 and does share some of it's parts. Overall, it is a different bike and power-wise...MUCH different. It can be a bear of a bike to get good midrange if tuning is off. With jet kits and other mods that were available these carbs could be in great need of being wrangled back into submission. When they work, they work well. The bike has a crazy power band that hits hard above 7k RPM and if you get a flat spot below 6-7k due to bad tuning, it will launch you into a bad day. All four years interchange with no mods, but '94 models are tuned differently. On all four years the California and 48 states are the same carb.
Pictured below is a set of '95-'97 ZX900B KeiHin G183 carbs. They can be interchanged , but the '94 has different internal tuning. There is no difference in Cal models. This year range did not yet use a throttle position sensor.
