KZ900 Models '76 with Mechanical Slide Mikuni VM26
This is the second gen 900 carbs. These are sometimes listed as '76-'77, but I have never seen a legitimate '77 set in the US. A lot of these bikes, especially the LTD were made in the USA. These carbs look like VM26's from the KZ1000 '77-'78, but they are very different in a lot of ways. There were very early '77 KZ1000's that were almost dead ringers, but even they are not actually identical. KZ900 has a very specific throttle cable and idle brackets, nickel plated choke valves, the slide risers are similar to 29mm smoothbore carbs, and the carb connection bracket that spans the top of the carbs. There are other differences, but these are the main things you will notice.
Pictured below is a combination of two different carbs. The completed set is actually a KZ1000A '77 (299) carb set which was used an a very few very early '77's and was superseded by (1024) The KZ1000 set is different in one major way, the air screws are on the bottom. The '76 KZ900 carbs have pilot air screws on the sides of the intake barrel. Also below that are pics of a actual '76 KZ900 carb set in pre assembly pictures. '76 KZ900 were not part number marked, they simply had a marking (Z12).

'76 KZ900 would have the air screws (Pilot Air Screws) on the sides,
not the bottom as shown in the picture.

Notice on the KZ900 the air screw slots on the bottom are not
machined for air screws.
