VT500C and VT500FT carbs are basically the same for all years and have the smallest VD body design similar to the V-Four 700-750's, Sometimes you will find the bodies interchanged between all models of the VT500's. This means care should be taken in correct id of the carbs before acquiring replacement parts. Also care in installing parts in the front carbs compared to the rear carbs. Even factory manuals are vague on this issue and do not explain all or none of the front-to-rear differences including main jet emulsion tubes, slide springs, jet needles, and main jet sizes.
Below is a set of VT500C Shadow '83-'84 VD6HAA carbs in assembly stage. All sets look and fit the same, but have different internal tuning.
