Rob's Carburetor Rebuilds

'79 CX500C Custom and CX500D Deluxe V-Twin KeiHin 35mm VB27 and VB23

All of the CX500 V-Twin carbs made from '78-'82 look similar, and they can be interchanged on all years. However, they are diverse in both design, settings, and tuning. You have to pay close attention to the specific version to correctly rebuild and the bike they are currently installed. They are found to be interchanged and very mixed-up so just replicating current parts installed, is a recipe for disaster. This particular version is for the '79 CX500C Custom (VB27AA). This set has the fuel intake on a large brass Tee between the carbs and has adjustable floats with matching float needles. They do not use a accellerator pump.

Below is pictured a set of '79 CX500C Custom  VB27AA Keihin carbs. All of the CX500C models have the brass "T" fuel line due to the tank shape found on the Customs. The '78-'79 years do not have an accelerator pump and they come with adjustable floats unlike later years with non-adjustable floats.
